About the economic and social impact of the war in Ukraine

English Programs in the next semester (IMPORTANT INFORMATION)
We would like to inform you that due to the uncertain pandemic situation and bearing in mind the welfare of foreign students, all classes at the Faculty of Economics and Management of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń conducted in English in the winter semester of the academic year 2021/2022 will be conducted online via the MS Teams platform.

New operating procedures of the Faculty
According to Order No. 109 of the Rector of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń of 27 May 2020 on preventing the spread of SARS-CoV-2 among community members of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, from June 1, 2020, the restrictions on the functioning of the Faculty during the epidemic are changed. Courses and diploma exams will be organized in an online form. In justified cases, some classes and exams may take place in traditional form (under strict sanitary regime). Administrative support for students (only on issues that cannot be dealt with remotely) and the possibility of consulting academics in the Faculty building will also be restored.

Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun becomes a full YUFE member.

Scientific Monograph in 8 languages
Scientific monograph "Econometrics of Qualitative Phenomena" (2018) by Prof. Jerzy Witold Wiśniewski was published in Germany in another 8 languages: French, Spanish, German, Dutch, Portuguese, Polish, Russian and Italian. This is a substantial success of the scientist from the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management. So far only one publication of a Polish economist has been published on a multi-languages scale (Introduction to Econometrics, O. Lange, 1957, translation available in more than 20 languages).

Dean has been elected
On June 1, Rector Elect Prof. Andrzej Sokala handed nominations to the new deans of faculties in the 2020-2024 period of office. Once again, the Dean of the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management is Prof. Jerzy Boehlke.

Results of the COVID-19 and CRUSH competitions
On May 7, 2020, the Initiative of Excellence - Research University (IDUB) announced the results of two competitions for research about the COVID-19 epidemic. In total, 14 winners were selected. One of them is Prof. Tadeusz Kufel, an employee of our Faculty.

Virtual conversation about satisfaction
On April 20, there was the 2nd edition of the nationwide Conference on the topic of business satisfaction
"Let's Talk about Satisfaction". The event was organized by the Department of Organizational Behavior and Marketing and Student Marketing Research Club. During the virtual meeting, 14 experts from Poland and the world presented results of their researches about satisfaction from various perspectives and industries.

“Quality in Sport Conference” is officially ended!
The 7th edition of the International Scientific Conference "Quality in Sport" is ended. During two days of the event we could participate in 31 speeches in the areas of management and quality, legal and health sciences, as well as 2 debates on the future of the sport. In the conference participated not only Polish but also foreign speakers - from the Czech Republic (Masaryk University in Brno), Morocco (Cadi Ayyad University in Marrakech) and Ukraine (Kharkiv National Pedagogical University of Skovoroda).

“What will help, and what threatens the survival of a company during the current crisis? What are the owners of companies doing to stay on the market?” - Scientists from our Faculty are looking for answers to these questions.

Coronavirus - Announcement by the Rector of NCU
Due to the decision of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education, I suspend all didactic classes for the period from 12 March to 25 March. The visit of Prof. David de la Croix
On December 4, 2019 the Faculty of Economics and Management of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń hosted Prof. David de la Croix from the Catholic University of Louvain in Louvain-la-Neuve. The professor David de la Croix came to Toruń together with Prof. Krzysztof Malaga from the Poznań University of Economics and Business. DEM Conference with Distinguished Econometricians
XVI Professor Zygmunt Zieliński International Conference Dynamic Econometric Models took place in Sept. 3-5, 2019 at The Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management. Participants from research centres in Cracow, Warsaw, Wroclaw, Gdansk, Lodz, Czestochowa and Torun presented 30 papers related to theory and application of econometric models basing in time series data in economics and finance.

At the turn of the year new editions of world university rankings confirmed the leading position and the stable international reputation of the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń among Polish universities.

An expert from the US will be giving advice to start-ups at our Faculty
Whitney Hischier of UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business will be visiting the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management UMK. The expert will give a lecture “Using the lean launch process to find product-market fit for your startup”, she will also hold workshops and undertake consultations.

We choose the best international student
The 9th edition of the competition for the best international student - INTERSTUDENT has started. Candidates may be nominated by professors, university authorities, student self-government, as well as fellow students. The International Cooperation Department is waiting for nominations until December 11th.

Innovative and international Academia Copernicana
The inauguration of the Academia Copernicana Interdisciplinary Doctoral School will take place on October 23rd. The Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń is the first university in Poland to implement such an innovative doctoral education programme.

Faculty inauguration of the new academic year
On October 1, 2018, the faculty inauguration of the academic year 2018/2019 for full-time students took place. It was exceptional for our Faculty because it was 51 inauguration in the history of The Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.

50 Years of FESM with the Nobel Prize Winner
The Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management of Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń celebrates its fiftieth anniversary in 2018. The culmination of the celebrations of the economists' jubilee will be the ceremonies on Monday, June 18, 2018, during which Prof. Robert Franklin Engle, Nobel Prize winner in Economics will be awarded with the degree of the NCU Doctor Honoris Causa.

On Tuesday June, 19 2018 a scientific seminar on analysis of financial time series with application of quantile regression and Bayesian technique took place.
