We warmly invite all students to participate in an intensive course on "Natural Capital, Ecosystem Services and Environmental Accounting," taking place in person from July 1-3, 2025, Faculty of Biological and Veterinary Sciences, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.
The course will be led by distinguished experts: Professor Pier Paolo Franzese and Professor Elvira Buonocore, both from the UNESCO Chair "Environment, Resources and Sustainable Development" at the Parthenope University in Naples, Italy.
In light of the growing global interest in protecting our planet, this course will focus on crucial topics such as environmental footprints, a biophysical perspective on natural capital, ecosystem services, and environmental accounting. Participants will learn methods for assessing the value of natural capital (stocks of renewable and non-renewable natural resources) and ecosystem services (benefits humans derive from nature).
Furthermore, the course will provide theoretical and applied knowledge of environmental accounting tools for assessing ecological footprints and sustainability indicators. This is a unique opportunity to understand and evaluate the environmental costs of human activities, whether you're interested in the production of engagement rings, pizza, or pierogi.
This course, which is optional, will be certified by the organisers.
