From 14-18 April, the Faculty of Economic Sciences and Management hosted the 4th edition of the International Staff Week in the series: Managing The Challenges of Academic Work in Times of Uncertainty. This year's theme was AI in Higher Education: Challenges and Opportunities.
Staff Week is an event aimed at representatives of our Erasmus+ partner universities from abroad. This year's edition brought together 19 representatives from:
- Bosnia and Herzegovina (University of Sarajevo School of Economics and Business),
- Georgia (Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University),
- Spain (University of Granada),
- Costa Rica (Instituto Tecnologico de Costa Rica),
- Malaysia (Taylor's University),
- Moldova (Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova ASEM),
- Ukraine (Hryhorii Skovoroda University in Pereiaslav, National Technical University of Ukraine Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute, Simon Kuznets Kharkiv National University of Economics, Zhytomyr Politechnic State University).
The five-day event provided an excellent opportunity for international networking, sharing experiences and planning future academic collaboration initiatives. Participants not only had the opportunity to present their institutions' activities in the area of digital transformation and the use of artificial intelligence, but also to reflect together on the challenges AI poses to higher education and how to address them effectively.
The inspiring discussions and workshops addressed, among other issues, the ethical use of AI in education, its impact on the quality of education, the development of digital competences among academic staff and students, as well as the possibilities of applying AI tools in university management processes. Participants unanimously emphasised the huge potential that artificial intelligence brings, while pointing out the need for responsible and thoughtful implementation.
International Staff Week was also a stimulus to strengthen relations with existing partners and to establish new contacts that could result in joint research projects, mobility programmes or teaching initiatives.
